Bonjour Everyone,

My name is Faisal and I own an 05 Corolla XRS with 19,000 KMs so far. I have owned an 04 Corolla S in the past (I traded it in for an XRS back in August of 2004). It is stock for now, but I am starting to mod it once winter is out by putting Injen intake first and then exhaust a little later. I am a Software Engineer in Calgary, AB. I had been pointed to this site by Diskace whom I know from 9thgen Corolla site where his turbo XRS project has been making a lot of waves.

Browsing through this forum, it seems like you guys only communicate in French?? Do you use English by any chance? I have not done my high school in Canada since I grew up out of the country and came back just before getting into university so I do not know how to speak French. Anyway, I am glad to be here and hopefully can learn more about my car and help people on this board with their Rollas (and XRS in particular). :D

Hello Faisal, glad to see that you received my message :)

Basically we are a french based community but english is welcome on this board. We do have members who only communicate in english or can read in french but are posting in english. That said, welcome to the club corolla of quebec board.

Post some pictures of your car in the Photos & Videos Corolla section so members can see your ride :)

Hope you will learn french a bit also by coming here ;)

Cheers, DiskACE !

Thanks a lot of the welcome guys. Definitely, looks like a great site. I will be posting some pictures up of my XRS that I took last summer soon. Although, it is stock right now, but not for too long. :)

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Did you ordered the Injen CAI already ?

Summer is soon :)

Here in Calgary, there is a new Toyota dealership that has a motorsports shop inside the dealership called Matrix motorsports. They said they will order and install it. The would order it as well, which should not take more than a few days or so. The best thing is that it is being done by a Toyota dealership so I might feel a little better about the warranty issue as well. The do exhausts, flywheels etc. everything so I might be looking at exhaust in a few months after that too. I cannot wait to drive the first time with Injen on. The gains of around 9 - 11 whp are pretty nice as well. I heard it is just like driving a new car. :D

Here are pics of my XRS taken a few months ago. Now it has 19,000 KM. The tint on it is 20% in the back and 35% at the front.

Nice pictures of your car. I really like the look with the tinted windows.

I had the opportunity to drive another XRS from a member on this board. He had a injen CAI and the sound is amazing. We were 3 in the cars so i can't tell about the gain in terms of performance. But ill bet you will fall in love with the sound :)

Yeah I am sure you must have seen the dynos posted where XRS dynos between 166 - 168 whp SAE corrected (171 whp standard) with intake and exhaust and around 159 - 161 whp with just intake. The mechanic at the shop told me that I can expect around 9 whp in Calgary due to the high altitude of the city. With a city close to sea level 11 whp is very possible.

I will definitely make some videos of flybys and interior etc. once I get it. :D

I don't remember about the dyno but 9 whp gain is possible. I still think it is a lot only for a CAI.... i mean is the stock intake + airbox/filters is that much restrictive...

Yup. That is exactly the reason. I had seen many dynos at 9thgen. It is easy to see why after looking at the design of the stock airbox. It is almost the size of a straw. The car is basically gasping for air when doing redline runs to 8400 rpm.

Ahhh..I remember you from 9thgen. Welcome. Diskace told me about this site. I am liking this site a lot. Seems like a lot of great information. Now I need to find a software that does English to French and French to English in order to keep it true to it's French roots since I grew up outside Canada and do not know how to speak French. :) Maybe, this is a good way for me to learn it now.

Babelfish :)

Thanks Diskace. Cool stuff. This translator seems very good and accurate. I was looking for some yesterday and they were pretty bad (could be a different dialect of French??). One of my previous managers during internship year at Alberta Research Council was Francophone from Montreal and he told me that there are many dialects of French i.e. European, Algerian, Canadian and so on.

Here is a translation of my text above:

Merci Diskace. . :D

Cool stuff = Substance fraîche??? rofl

Babelfish is probably the best automatic translator, even if it gives some strange results sometimes like substance fraîche! :p

I think there are different dialects in every language. ;)

Welcome here!! we exchange in an other post before I saw that you were new here!! Nice Xrs by the way. I really like the looks of your tinted windows!

I was supposed to by an other car this summer for lapping... but I think that I will use my Xrs. To fun to drive! I'm looking for a new intake me too, but i'm not sure to go with the CAI, maybe just the short ram. And also a cat back if I got the money!!

Make yourself at home!

Substance fraîche lol :)

If i retraduct in english = fresh substance
:)

Anyway, posting in english is not forbidden. You can read and translate french to english and post in english or do the contrary but it will do some strange results :P

lol....that is hilarious. However, it is giving some pretty accurate translations to English so I am happy about that since I can read some good threads on this board and I will use French as well to make some posts. ;)

As for Lau's trading in his S for XRS, I know was probably the most original one to do that and there were a bunch of people including Wkl who followed in my footsteps. :p

Thanks a lot. I love this site due to it's no-nonsense approach, mutual respect and absence of politics and controversial topics (my reason for leaving 9thgen due to some offensive discussions).

I am about a month away from getting my Injen installed and putting my summer tires back on. Calgary auto show is coming up from 8th to 13th so I will be taking a lot of pics and putting them on this site. You can count on lots of videos of Injen intake as soon as I have it installed. ;)
