Saw it on matrixowners.com. His log-in there is killer. Really bad a**. This guy used Hydra EMS. Monkey Wrench will be developing a harness for XRS of Apexi PFC (used in Celica GTS) as well. I know what I am getting next spring for my car. :p
p.s. I noticed a hiccup in the motor somewhere between 7100 and 7300 rpm.

Really good news for us!
I think Monkeywrenchracing is really the place to go for a good tune. The few time I spoke with Matt, he was very knowledgeable. Actually he gained about 13whp only with the Hydra not counting lift starting at 5700 instead of 6300rpm or 6700rpm depending the year of the XRS.

Yeah I know. I wish I could get it tuned by Monkey Wrench, but it is just way too far down in the US. I am talking with local dyno tune shops that claim they can take any management system and custom tune it. I am looking forward to Apexi PFC as well, which might be a bit better option.

Talking by experience, the first thing to look for is not a Hydra expert but a 2zz expert. You gotta find somebody that knows that engine really well. Then try and find a tuner that knows a bit of the Hydra. I made the mistake this summer of doing the opposite. The guy knew the Hydra but was a Subaru shop. Results: he was only able to tune my fuel map using the autotune (could have done it myself) and didn't touch the VVTI part which is very important too.
Diskace: Yeah, the Hydra is the only strandalone for the Matrix 2ZZ that is plug and play. The Celica guys have the Apexi PFC and the Hydra but for the Trix or Rolla, the Hydra is our only option so far...

Thanks xrs06 for the good advice. I will keep that in mind while trying to find a suitable tuning shop. To answer Diskace's question, I guess xrs06 answered that one as well:

It's hard to find a 2ZZ expert... it's not a well known engine...

You pretty much have 2 experts:
Jay at www.hassturbo.com
Or
Matt at www.monkeywrenchracing.com
If anybody has another one, please chime in...
